…

The gate opened, and Kalinda came home with

her work bag. She cheerfully greeted her father, but he
               only stared sharply with anger.

“Explain what this all means, Kalinda,” his

father’s voice was heavy and scared Kalinda.

“Why, Dad? What’s wrong?” Kalinda panicked.

Without a word, the man handed over a red box

               labeled ‘Dear: Kalinda’.

“A Dutch man named Adrian delivered this. Do
you know him?” the father asked intimidatingly. Kalinda

was silent, bowing her head. She knew her father

strongly opposed their relationship. Her father, a freedom
fighter, hated colonizers and their descendants.

                       “Kalinda!” the father shouted.

“I know you have something with him. Stop this

relationship! I will arrange you to marry my friend’s son.

He is much better than that Dutch man,” he commanded.
