Melodi

In a village far from the bustle of the city, there
stood a small school that also served as a home for
children from all kinds of distant places. It was there that
Melodi first met another girl who shared her name.
Though they were both called Melodi, they differed in
many ways.
The first Melodi—a cheerful girl with long hair
always tied in a ponytail—wore a constant smile. She
loved music and carried her little guitar everywhere she
went. We’ll call her “Melodi Senja”, because her gentle
voice reminded people of the calmness of dusk.
The second Melodi was a quiet girl with
relatively stiff, short hair. If Melodi Senja loved guitar
strums, this Melodi preferred the tones of the melodica
(pianika). Every morning she brought her little pianika
and played mournful tunes that called to mind the patter
