Amid the Mud

Chapter 1: Hope, Courage, and an Encounter

In a village named Siring, located very close to a

hot mud eruption, lived a young wizard named Angub
with strong magical powers. Every night, Angub

practiced magic at the border of the mud explosion. No
one knew why the ground spewed out mud, but the

villagers always called it the Lapindo mud. Angub hoped
he could help the villagers so the mud wouldn’t drown

their homes.

One night, just as he was about to chant a spell,

Angub saw a stunningly beautiful woman standing not
far from him. He recognized her as a villager known for

her beauty, but he never knew her name.

“Angub?” she called gently. “What are you doing

here?”
