sharp smell of blood.
Soon, a white vehicle with flashing red LED
lights arrived. The medics jumped out, quickly lifted the
injured man, and drove away, leaving the scene behind.
…
"Oh, schatje! What happened to you?"
The panicked voice of a middle-aged woman
suddenly broke the silence of the room. The nurse, who
had just finished changing the bandages, quickly stepped
out to give the mother and son some privacy.
"Ah, Moeder. Don’t worry, I’m already feeling
better," the young man replied.
"How can a mother possibly stay calm when her
child is hurt? Goodness, just look at you now," the
woman responded. She gently ran her fingers over his
face and pulled him into a tight embrace.
