With a gentle kiss on her forehead, Rudi turned
and disappeared into the darkness of the night.
Margaretha stood frozen, unable to move, only staring in
the direction he had gone, hoping one day he would
return.
Months passed with no word from Rudi.
Margaretha waited faithfully, sitting by the shore each
day, hoping to see Rudi’s figure walking toward her. But
one day, a trader from the city came with devastating
news. “I heard from a friend at the harbor,” he said,
“Rudi fell gravely
ill and died on the journey.”
Margaretha’s world collapsed. The love she had
hoped would unite them had ended in tragedy. Rudi, the
man she had loved with all her heart, had left this world
without returning to her.
Margaretha fell ill, her body weakened, and her
soul felt empty. Every day she visited the place where
they used to meet, waiting, even though she knew Rudi
