The figure raised his hand again, but before he
could strike, Lira pulled Kian forcefully. “Come on, let's
go now!”
They ran with all their might towards the forest
outside the village. Kian's breathing was ragged, his head
full of questions he couldn't answer. When they felt they
were far enough away, Lira stopped and looked at Kian
with a serious face.
“Listen, Kian. I know this must feel weird. But
you have to trust me. We're not safe here. But you have
to trust me. We're not safe here. You have to come with
me to another place.”
“What are you talking about, Lira? Somewhere
else? What do you mean?” Kian asked in a confused
tone.
“I'll explain later. Now we have to find a safe
place first. The troops will definitely be looking for you.”
Lira grasped Kian's shoulder, her eyes radiating panic.
