“Dad, I want to be like Uncle someday,” he once
said. His father smiled proudly, “Of course, Son. As long
as you practice diligently.”
On his birthday, his uncle gave Nara a racket and
some shuttlecocks as a gift. Overjoyed, Nara
immediately asked his father to set up a simple
badminton court in their backyard. Although it was just a
string tied between poles as a net, to Nara, it felt like a
grand stadium.
When he started elementary school, Nara’s
passion for badminton grew even stronger. His father
enrolled him in private training sessions with his uncle.
Every Saturday morning, Nara woke up early, excited to
chase after flying shuttlecocks. He trained with
dedication, one session after another.
However, as he got older, school activities,
extracurriculars, and tutoring filled up most of his time.
With a heavy heart, Nara had to pause his private
training.
