A Dream That Keeps Flying
By: Hasya Nararya Pratama
Nara still clearly remembered the first time he felt
the perfect hit of a shuttlecock. He was just a toddler
then, taken by his father to watch his uncle, a
professional badminton athlete, train. His uncle's agile
movements that could outsmart opponents and sharp
smashes that sent the shuttlecock flying fast left Nara
amazed. From that moment on, badminton became a part
of his life.
Whenever his uncle had a match, Nara always
asked his father to take him to the sports hall. He would
sit in the stands, eyes fixed on his uncle. The cheers from
the crowd, the players’ shouts of encouragement, and the
distinctive smell of the court were all etched into his
memory.
